Current projects

As IPv4 addresses are running out, the European Commission is developing a strategy towards responsible and rapid uptake of IPv6 in Europe, for purpose of innovation in internet services  (vast address space)and Europe's competitiveness. GNKS and TNO are carrying out the project IPv6 Deployment monitoring, in close collaboration with NII (Taiwan), which is measuring IPv4 depletion, IPv6 take up and is looking into bottlenecks in IPv6 take-up. (2009-2010: 300,000 EURO)

Privacy is a hot issue in the Information Society. Europe has been leading with the launch of a principles based data protection directive in 1995. The UK Information Commissioner invited a team of RAND, GNKS and time.lex to carry out a critical assessment of the data protection directive in the light of new developments and experiences, so far. (2008-2009: 200000 EURO)
